Wired entry keypads can be installed as the sole access product to control your residential garage door without keys or remotes. Replace a worn or damaged keypad entry system with a universal Genie keypad that can be much less expensive than another brand. Or, add this keypad entry system as an extra way to open or close a garage door for family members or workers without access to your remote control transmitter to enter or close a garage door. When installing the system, you will have to make sure the notch on the signal tail of the code pad is installed next to the program switch when plugged in. If the notch is installed facing away from the program switch when plugged in, the device will appear to operate properly, but security codes will not be stored correctly. Keypad is black with a slide-up cover showing the Genie logo only ) This keyless garage door opener entry pad works with Genie transmitters using 390 MHz frequency. It is NOT compatible with Genie Intellicode transmitters (if your keypad has Intellicode printed on the cover, go to the next set of programming instructions below).

The Door Code in the Step-By-Step Procedure at right is determined by the internal code switches inside your transmitter and the accompanying chart. Determine the settings of the first 3 switches and write down the corresponding number from the chart. Continue with the next 3 switches and its corresponding number, and so on, until the last set of 3 switches. You should have 3 or 4 Door Code numbers. You can then print out a legible copy of the chart and the programming instructions from your word software. Proceed to step 2. Your PIN number can be created from any group of numbers up to 8 digits of your choice.Enter your PIN and Press “star” key. Your door should operate. Indicator light will blink once and go out. Check the 9 volt battery under the keypad numbers. To access, press inward, under the number pad lip while sliding downward to expose the battery. This small black button is located behind the light lens at the motor head and is nearest the floppy 6 inch antenna wire that protrudes from the power head. When pressed, a radio signal indicator will start blinking red for 30 seconds. The learn button is sometimes located on the back of the unit, or with Excelerator openers, it is under the light lens near the hinge of the lens globe. Always locate the floppy antenna wire first. The Learn Button can be found not far from this antenna. See Troubleshooting Guides for Excelerator photo. You can then print out a legible copy of the chart and programming steps from your word software. Release the buttons. It is usually behind the light lens and close to the floppy antenna wire. If your Door Opener does not have an antenna, you have an External Receiver. The External Receiver cover must be removed to access the Learn Code button and the indicator LED. Follow Steps 1 through 3 outlined below: The red LED indicator light will start to blink. It will blink for up to 30 seconds. While it is blinking, proceed to Step 2. The Learn Code Indicator LED will stay on.

The Learn Code indicator LED turns off. Wait until the Keypad backlight turns off (approximately 30 seconds). You can then print out a legible copy of the chart and programming steps from your word software. Works with Genie systems using Intellicode 1 and Intellicode 2 controls. Intellicode 2 refers to most units made in 2011 and 2012. It is usually behind the light lens and close to the floppy antenna wire. The External Receiver cover must be removed to access the Learn Code button and the indicator LED. The keypad should now be set to the new PIN. LEDs should blink PURPLE. Behind the receiver’s cover is a switch. Enter your PIN on the outside keypad, followed by the “star” button. Slide the receiver switch back to RUN. Test your PIN code followed by the star button. Test keypad. The smart indicator light will glow steadily for 30 seconds. Then press and hold the ENTER button. It has learned the code. If light bulbs are not installed, two clicks will be heard. Test keypad. For every switch in the ON or positive position record a 1, for every switch in the OFF or negative position record a 2. Tom 5.0 out of 5 stars If you have the Genie KEP-1, then you may have a few problems with a wireless replacement. The existing fairly large hole through your garage wall for the wire to pass through will be hard to cosmetically repair if installing the wireless replacement to the typical garage door frame location. The wireless replacement may not fit correctly over the existing hole because of the exterior siding shape. The wireless keypads have one button close and lighted keypad features, the KEP-1 does not. I chose to replace with original replacement part. I will probably not have to replace it again. I cut the wire at the back of the old keypad. Found the plastic outdoor electrical enclosure at Lowe's that fit it. Centered the keypad within the new enclosure and drilled the four corner holes through the plastic. Used the original four screws and screw holes in wall to mount the new enclosure. Added two new screws to secure middle top and bottom of enclosure to wall and then removed original mounting screws. Scotch taped the new wire to the cut end of the old wire and used that to pull new wire through wall. Installed new keypad with four new and longer corner screws. Plugged new wire into socket on circuit board within the inside box. Works and looks like new. When it works, it is fine. It is easy to replace. My 3 star rating is due to the short working life. The problem is that you need this keypad. I have searched for a better replacement, but have not been able to find one - short of replacing the entire door assembly. When you replace it, be very careful to get the ribbon cable connected correctly. The instructions are clear on this, but it's easy to do it wrong.

The system has worked great and I am very happy with it overall, but the keypads are a poor design and the buttons wear out after extended use. I just installed my 4th keypad and it is easy to change out, but would prefer if they lasted longer.I rarely use it since I can usually get into the garage with my wireless remote which is programmed to my car. Came home from visiting relatives one evening, went to use the wireless keypad and found that it wouldn't open the garage door. Unscrewed the keypad from the door. Manipulated the ribbon wiring that attached to the keypad. This would cause the garage door to open when the keypad code was entered but, not when I attached the keypad back to the outside garage door. Well, I ordered a new(identical) keypad. Removed the old one, replaced it with the new one, and pressed the code buttons. Worked like a charm!! Just be sure to insert the ribbon wire, exactly as the old one was inserted!!If the problem is in the control box you won't know that until you replaced the keypad and then the whole thing still doesn't work. Save your money and put it towards a wireless keypad that replaces both this touchpad and the black box inside your garage door frame. If in the off chance that your keypad is worn out because it faces the sun or the rain then this might work for you. Keep the packaging so you can return it right away if it doesn't solve your problem.Since it is outside and exposed to the elements continuously, it suffers from the exposure and ultimately needs to be replaced. This is an older style keypad which works with my old Genie garage door opener so I am stuck with this model. It would be nice if there was a cover for it to help protect it but there isn’t and since the model really been discontinued, the company is not going to improve the design. This keypad is very easy to install and program and works flawlessly. They work great, and it is really nice not to have to deal with keys a lot of times.

The problem is that they tend to wear out and stop functioning in a couple years. So, I usually buy two at a time now, and just figure that I will need to replace them whenever the current one stops working. Fortunately, I have a manually operated keypad lock on another door, and can use that in an emergency when ever that two-year lifespan on these electronic keypads kick in (usually when you would really need to get in of course).Simply removed the old one, plugged in this one and that was it. System remembered the existing access code. Could not have been easier. In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading. Remove the 4 screws on the corners of the number panel and then pop the cover off the control panel on the other side of the wall (it had a flange I had to depress to get it to pop loose). I then removed about 4 screw holding the circuit board to the back bracket and was then able to unplug the old number pad and then plug it the new. Keep the packaging so you can return it right away if it doesn't solve your problem.I've considered different covers or ways of protecting it, but they come with their own problems. A cover can retain moisture, offer a nesting place for critters, add complexity if both hands aren't free, etc. I don't know, maybe I'll fashion a hood for it. Either way, the keypad works fine if this is what you need. I see reviewers who get much less than 5 years so length of service may depend on installation location. 4 stars because it only lasts 5 years and no Genie hood offered.I rated ease of installation a 4 instead of a 5 because there was not one word or picture of instruction. There are two possible ways to insert the ribbon into the box inside the door. I looked at the stripes on the two ribbons.

There were slight differences but I thought I had a good idea which way to insert it. Then I saw a very small notch on each of the ribbons which told me exactly how to do it. A very simple instruction would have saved me 10-15 minutes. (If you pulled out the old ribbon without looking at it - the notch goes to the left. Maybe if you insert it the wrong way and it doesn't work, you can reverse it and not have done any damage?)Amazon et COVID-19 Tarifs et politique de livraison Amazon Prime Retours et remplacements Gerez votre contenu et vos appareils Service a la clientele.
